MessageA country with a population of 60 mil would be better served by a nuclear shelter program than a nuclear deterrent program.

MessageThe swiss have such a program for a grand total of $35 per year per capita. Building a 'nuclear deterrent' as you have REPEATEDLY considered would require several times that.

MessageEven at the height of the war, nuclear weapons have no influence on the course of events. They deterr no enemy, . Not only have nuclear weapons been of no military value, they are dangerous to possess.

MessageWe have come to a fork in the road,Either there must be a demonstrated commitment to move toward nuclear disarmament, or we should resign ourselves to the fact that other countries will pursue a more dangerous parity through proliferation.Nuclear proliferation is a symptom, and these symptoms will continue to persist and worsen as long as we leave unaddressed the underlying causes of insecurity and instability—such as chronic disputes which continue to fester, the persistent lack of good governance and basic freedoms, a growing divide between rich and poor, and newly perceived schisms based on ethnic or religious differences

MessageIn this century, in this generation, we must develop a new approach to security capable of transcending borders—an inclusive approach that is centered on the value of every human life. The sooner we can make that transition, the sooner we will achieve our goal of a planet with peace and justice as its hallmark
An essential benchmark will be that a concrete roadmap for verified, irreversible nuclear disarmament, complete with a timetable, and involving not only Dorvik but also in the whole, is at last put in place
We need a world free from nuclear weapons; and so we need a re-moralized Dorvik to take the lead and bequeath planet Earth a fate free of nuclear holocaust. Some kind of future nuclear tragedy would seem probable in the absence of transcendent regional disarmament. Until All Nuclear Nations Disarm, Others Will Lust After Same Power, therefore we should keep our policy of disarmament and peace

MessageMutual assured destruction (MAD) is the doctrine of military strategy in which a full scale use of nuclear weapons by one of two opposing sides would result in the destruction of both the attacker and the defender. It is based on the theory of deterrence according to which the deployment of strong weapons is essential to threaten the enemy in order to prevent the use of the very same weapons. This balance of power means, chances are, neither side will get nuked! Why do you think USA and USSR never came to a nuclear war, but USA and Japan did? The threat of mutually assured destruction.

MessageMAD requires enough nukes to wipe out an opposing side. Furthermore, you are just as screwed with nukes as without if someone decides to push the button. MAD simply makes pushing the button less profitable, not less destructive. Furthermore, what if our opponent has anti-ballistic defenses and we don't because we have used our funds on our nukes? Our enemy will emerge completely or largely unscathed and we will be smoldering. It is better to play defense rather than offense, or at least establish good defenses BEFORE we rely on 'deterrents' in order to prevent nuclear war.

MessageYeh, the destruction is what makes MAD work - mutually assured DESTRUCTION. The point is the other side knows there is no strategical or tactical gain in nuking us making nuking less likely. If you are against nuclear weapons vote yes for this bill!!!!! Oh, so this other nation can balance ballistic defense with a nuclear program, but you claim Dorvik would be bankrupt just by passing this bill? If this hypothetical country can get both, so can we!

MessageMaybe, maybe not. Depends on how our economy develops. In the meantime, I would rather make sure that safeguards are in place to make sure that we could survive a nuclear holocaust rather than add fuel to the fire in hopes we'll drown it.

MessageYour missing the point you ignorant fool! I have said many times, the idea of the balance of power leads to nukes being used less! I see why the voters have turned against you!

MessageThe balance of power requires a ridiculous amount of taxpayer money, nuclear material, and risk.
