Message | A good proposition. Education and work will decrease the risk that inmates use their prison time to learn more criminality, and the work can help pay the costs of prisons |

Message | Come on, it helps to make prisons more profitable enterprises, staff can be cut as prisoners can do jobs such as cooking etc. and will be paid less than standard workers. Therefore prisons become more efficient. Also, as the Libertarians say, it will reduce the risk of prisoners reoffending and help rehabilitation into the community after their sentences are complete. Remember that the majority of prisoners are not murderers and rapists but petty thieves and drug dealers/addicts, who really need to be helped, as well as paying a price for what they have done. |
