Crowds of 600,000 people filled the streets of Nova Marxstad to catch a glimpse of President Mark Sterk and supermodel Janette Wes on their wedding day.
The couple were married at St John's Cathedral before an invited congregation of 3,500 and an estimated global TV audience of 950 million - making it the most popular programme ever broadcast.
Janette Wes, 23, arrived almost on time for the ceremony after making the journey from President's Palace in the St John's Cathedral with her father, John Wes.
She made the three-and-a-half minute walk up the red-carpeted aisle with the sumptuous 25 ft (7.62 m) train of her Emmanuel designed, ivory taffeta and antique lace gown flowing behind her.
The newlyweds took the open-topped state landau to President's Palace where they emerged on the balcony to give the crowds the kiss they had been longing to see.
Mark and Janette Sterk retired from the public gaze to enjoy toasts and a wedding breakfast with 870 famous guests.
THE LUXURIOUS FAIRYTALE WEDDING
Janette went early to bed on the evening before her wedding. Her engagement ring, a وأ50,000 sapphire ring with 14 diamonds, lay on her bedside table. How would her new life as the President's spouse of New Endralon look? Had she made the right decision? Would she be able to bear being constantly under public scrutiny? Early in the morning Janette took a hot bubble bath. Tea and toast with orange marmalade was brought to her room, but she sipped just a little tea. Her heart was pounding! Could not everyone in New Endralon hear it? She was overwhelmed by the sight of the celebrating crowds who had already been assembling for days beforehand. Janette's favourite make-up artist came to Presiden'ts Palace with a large suitcase full of make-up, powder and rouge.
The dream pair spent the first night at President's Palace. The freshly married pair spent the honeymoon on the President's luxury yacht New Endralonia. A cruise was on the programme, a gift from the state. Matt and Janette were, however, not alone and undisturbed. As, naturally, a staff of servants was with them.Signed,
