The Progressive Conservatives again celebrate election success following the reelection of President Burret and a pickup of 25 seats in Parliament in the recent snap elections. Many political analysts expected the APP's Nohemi Rubio to pose a strong challenge to President Burret, but such predictions were off the mark as Burret scored a double digit victory.
Burret was aided by the second round endorsement of the Social Conservative Party which has returned to the national stage after a ten year absence. The Social Conservative Party has played a prominent role in Gaduri politics in the 4000s. They have historically succeeded at maintaining a significant number of seats in Parliament by appealing to religious and socially conservative voters. Their renewed presence serves to shake up politics as usual in Gaduridos moving forward.
Following the election, President Burret reportedly asked the APP's Rubio to return as the country's Defense Minister. Rubio has served in this capacity for over a decade, and he his widely respected by national security interest groups and the defense establishment. Rubio played a critical role in the negotiation of a defense treaty with Vorona that was drafted under the Rodriguez Administration and approved by Parliament during Burret's second year in office.Signed,
