This press message was released by the Government of the Republic of Cobura.
"We, the leaders of the Junta, have called tis conferance in order to announce our embracement of democracy and the values that go with it. Although we feel that our coup was justified as we had to bring order to the Republic of Cobura, which we love so dearly, we recognise that many unfortunate incidents occurred, and we would like to issue a formal apology to the civilians who have lost loved ones, we regret that this losses occurred. Furthermore we issue an apology to the politicians of the Beer and Sandwiches party and of the Modern Economic Party of Cobura, whose leaderships suffered greatly in our prison cells.
However perhaps most importantly we wish to announce that we shall now abide by democratic values in the Republic of Cobura. Not only is our party to be reformed and structured along a more democratic framework, but our senior leaders are also consulting upon a name change in order to reflect our transformation from a party of oppression to a party of the free market and patriotism.
We wish to assure the other parties that we are genuine in these internal reforms, and that we shall stick to the framework of the constitution of the Republic of Cobura.
In future we wish to be seen as a sound party, a party of debate and compromise, a party that would be a valid member of a coalition government, a party of the future, not of the past."
