Description[?]:
The Libertarian Party of the Republic of Telamon Founded: September of 2892 Founder: Darius Montaigne Current Chairman: Sotear Chann Motto: "Fewer Taxes. Less Government!" The Libertarian Party of the great Republic of Telamon was founded in September of 2892 amidst much opposition from the established parties. The vision of the LP was that of extensive economic reform. Unlike the socialists, the Libertarians sought economic freedom for all citizens, and that economic freedom is salvation for those in poverty. Libertarians believe strongly in the phrase, "Give a man a fish and you've fed him for a day; Teach a man how to fish and you've fed him for a lifetime." Instead of stealing money from other citizens to give to the poor, why not create a growing economy that will hire the poor. The Libertarian Party, with this in mind, set about to oppose the established policies of taxation and regulation and proposed the Economic Reform Act of 2892, which was supported by the LP and Telamon Liberal Party. The Bill did not pass with opposition by the four established parties. Although the Libertarian Party had no seats within the Legislature, it continued to labor hard for economic reform. Starting in the year 2893, the LP began to expand its focus, seeing that in order for it to succeed, it needed to focus on issues other than the economy. The first campaign on this note was the Civil Rights Reform Act of 2893. This bill received support from the Jewish Defense League (then the largest party), but was still defeated. In the same year the LP proposed the Health Reform Act of 2893, which received much support and was passed by the Legislature in April, 2893. Other proposals can be found here: http://classic.particracy.net/viewpartybills.php?partyid=13401 The Libertarian Party spent the years 2892 to 2898 building support within the legislature and the people, and finally landed 15 seats with the Legislature. Although a small number among 500 legislators, it was a start nonetheless. In the year 2900 the LP controlled 97 seats, and in 2905 had control of 112 seats among 500 legislators. However the year 2905 proved difficult for the Libertarian Party. Now that the LP had a considerable number of seats in the Legislature, party leadership was divided on course of action and different issues. The years 2905 to 2912 saw no activity from the Libertarian Party as many of its leaders diverged in different directions. Yet out of the crisis a new leader began to stir up hope and unity within the party. His name was Sotear Chann. Sotear Chann had a hard life growing up, being shifted around throughout the foster care system, yet he sought to prove once reaching college age to that he could overcome his families past and history to fulfill his dreams. Graduating from the University of Ferescia as a valedictorian with a B.A. in both Political Science and Economics, Sotear Chann, at the age of 22, was one of the founders of the Libertarian Party in 2892. At the age of 40 in 2910, Sotear Chann became the chairman of the LP, taking hold of the task to bring his party out of division and corruption. He brought hope to the party and even more so brought hope to the people of Telamon has he and many of the LP leaders campaigned throughout Telamon in the years leading up to the 2913 election. The LP gained 48 seats in the 2913 election and under the leadership of Sotear Chann, the LP finally gained a majority of 171 seats in the year 2930. The Libertarian Party remains strong in its pursuit of Liberty to this very day. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
