The Party was founded in response to a pamphlet by independent journalist Tobias Barrett, in which he called for a new party to reinvigorate Aldegarian liberal republicanism & fealty to the constitution. He was approached by Philip Helgren, a former secretary of a People's Party neighbourhood-branch in Aldegaria, with a view to making the party a reality. They co-founded the party 2 months later.

In the wake of the party's immense success in the parliamentary election of 3306 & Mr. Barrett's failure to match that performance in the presidential election of the same year, it was decided that he should step aside & allow the newly elected Prime Minister Helgren to lead the party, thus providing a the party with a clear leader.

Subsequent to Mr. Barrett's successful election to the Presidency, it was felt that he should resign his party-office, in order to maintain the dignity of his new state-office. |Random fact: In Culturally Protected nations, special care must be taken to ensure realism is maintained when role-playing a government controlled by an ethnic and/or religious minority. If it is to be supposed that this government is supported by a majority of the population, then this should be plausibly and sufficiently role-played. The burden of proof is on the player or players role-playing such a regime to demonstrate that it is being done realistically|
