Seats[?] in House of Parliament[?]: 0

Color[?]:

Description[?]:

Following the dissolution of the United Leftist Front, one of the most enduring political parties in Hutorian history, spanning almost one thousand years, new leadership has emerged with a different version of dropping exclusive left-of-center ties and expanding its message to promote markets while staying true to civil liberties, which have long been center to the old Front's ideal.

The MCP is headquartered in Throne & Altar, Roccato. It also has offices in Carter City, Falristan; Constantine, Lagard; and Saint Anselm, Kenai. Senators have a private club and work space in Bekenial.

POLITICAL EVOLUTION:

UNITED LEFTIST FRONT:

3165-3208--PHASE I [anti-royalist, economic socialism & civil progressivism]
3482-3540--PHASE II [pro-royalist, economic socialism & civil progressivism]
4054-4065--PHASE III [pro-royalist, economic capitalism & civil moderation]

MODERATE CAPITALIST PARTY:

4065-4080

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ULF LEADERS [PHASE I]:

ED O'BRIEN, 3163-3175---The Rock [Stood for Head of State in the Kingdom of Hutori 2 times and was elected both times (3190 & 3199); installed as His Most Royal and Serene Majesty King from 3192-3199; total service as Head of State spanned from 3190-3202]
Lead the Front from its weary infancy, governing through name changes and platform creation to become one of the most memorable voices in Parliament. His attacks on Conservative Leaders (notably Andrew Vine) became a rallying cry for Leftists in Parliament. Following the Massacre of 3169 and the governmental walkout of 3172, O'Brien was seen as indecisive, but his work in organizing the Miracle cemented his ability to raise the Front to a level of unforeseen prominence. He successfully removed William I from Hutori and eradicated that Royal family to the Glorious Empire of Davostan and installed himself as the new Royal family, but the populace triggered a backlash and demanded popular elections for Head of State, and after setting the table for the Front to succeed to new talent, O'Brien died suddenly in service to Hutori.

JOHNATHAN POPO, 3175-3200---The Shadow [Never sought election as Head of State]
Most trusted friend of O'Brien, Popo worked tirelessly to navigate the first major change in the Front since its inception on the governmental stage following the Miracle of 3173, which saw O'Brien rise to become Prime Minister. Popo, in contrast to his predecessor, has spoke less in Parliament but has enacted more laws and is considered the backstage genius behind O'Brien's time as Prime Minister and King.

CURTIS MCCORMACK, 3202-3208---The Embarrassment [Stood for Head of State 3 times, advanced to the runoff in 1 election, and finished 1-2 in runoff or faceoff elections]
Woefully forgotten by those who embrace the Front, McCormack famously ushered the Front out of existence following his 8-point loss to a non-candidate in the runoff election of 3208 after the Hutorian Conservative Party pledged to reinstall a royal monarchy in place of popular elections. Although he did win his Head of State election in 3202, it would be the beginning of the end for the Front, and many observers noted that the Front could not last with O'Brien dead. They proved mostly right.

CHAIR [PHASES II & III]:

EDISON O'BRIEN, 3482-3502---The Breath of New Life [Stood for Governor General in 9 elections; advanced to the runoff in 4 elections, and finished 2-2 in the runoff]
O'Brien, after searching family archives, found that he had a purpose to serve his Hutorian society again and to raise the banner of the Front for the family's sake. Time will tell if he has what it takes to revitalize a brand that is remembered by only those who lived all those hundreds of years ago. He would eventually win election as the Head of State in 3498, cementing the Front's place in national politics. He retired from professional politics following an upset loss in the 3502 election. His memory and legacy is carried by all members who join the Front.

LUTHER STAFFORD, 3503-3508---The Facilitator [Stood for Governor General in 2 elections; advanced to the runoff in 2 elections, and finished 0-2 in the runoff]
Stafford made his name serving as the budget-maker and expense coordinator for the O'Brien/Grossman Administration, passing numerous budgets and finding a way to increase government spending while preserving a balanced budget. But despite his strong government service under O'Brien, he was never able to pull off the political charm necessary to secure runoff victories, and it cost the Front potential as a result.

LEONARD GROSSMAN, 3509-3541---The Bad Protege [Stood for Head of State in 12 elections; advanced to the runoff in 8 elections, and finished 2-9 in runoff or faceoff elections]
Grossman was unfortunately not the protege he was meant to be, as he was an excellent servant to O'Brien but continually underperformed in elections while the legislative delegations performed on par. However, many credit Grossman's continual bad standings in elections with the ability of the Front to put forward MPs to serve in Cabinets and position themselves in elections afterward.

RYAN TESILLENDA, 3542-3556 ---The Fighter [Stood for Head of State in 8 elections; advanced to the runoff in 3 elections, and finished 4-2 in runoff or faceoff elections while winning Head of State uncontested twice]
Tesillenda, while adamant that he could not fill the shoes of the men before him, has proven himself a worthy leader of the party in his years as an MP who led the charge against a pro-religious uprising in the Parliament. His ability to control that arena of important policy so well convinced the Front that he was their man to replace Stafford. His disappearance from politics after the 3556 elections and desire for isolation from public life led to the undoing of the Front.

DR. BARON NEITSCH, 4054-4065---The Brain [stood for Head of State twice, did not advance to the runoff election in either contest]
Neitsch, who has a background and expertise in political history of Hutori, discovered the pamphlets of the Front during his research for a presentation and zealously adopted the politics as a way to move Hutori forward, admiring the back-and-forth days of the Royalty and the fight with Conservatives over morality legislation and the balance of powers. His failure to keep the Front on an upward ultimately cost him his political life.

MCP LEADERS:

PREISDENT:

DEAN POWELL, 4065-4071--The Reformist [Stood for Head of State four times; advanced to the runoff three times, and has a 1-2 record in runoff contests; served as Acting President from 4069-4070; total service as Head of State from 4069-4071]
Powell, the last successful United Leftist Front politician, managing multiple Government Cabinet changes and proposals, saw an opportunity in the lackluster 4064 election to advocate for a change of the Party and to promote the ideals he felt could change Hutori for the better. He brought the MCP from one of the weakest parties in the world to one of the strongest. His failure to secure another victory in 4071 proved his undoing, and 17 years in government was long enough.

SEAN PANNOX, 4071-4074 (Acting), 4074-4080 (Permanent)--The Fresh Face [stood for Head of State once; did not advance to the runoff election]
Pannox replaced Powell once the latter opted not to return to Parliament, but Pannox is most known for his aggressively loud defense of his tax policies promoting a class society definitively defending the rich against the poor. His represents one of the more tony districts in Hutori, and has made waves in the Party for really pushing a Capitalist tone over a Moderate tone in the Party orthodoxy. His failure to keep the Party advancing led to another downfall for the MCP.
