Description[?]:
-Les Conservateurs- -The Conservatives - Founded July 5th, 3674 http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/The_Conservatives_of_Alduria ------------------------------------------------------------------- The Conservatives were founded as an alternative to the radicals in the New Liberal Party on July, 5th, 3674 in Aldur. The Party was founded based on conservative principles relative to the time and the party continues to promote these. They stand for social conservatism, economic liberalism, free trade, democracy abroad, a strong military, smaller more effective government, and reducing regulation, spending and taxes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ideology: Big Tent Conservatism Classical Liberalism Federalism Fiscal Conservatism -------------------------------------------- PARTY CHAIR ---------------------- Incumbent: Jean Rivière ---------------------------------- The Party Chair is responsible for all conservative campaigns for national and statewide offices. They also oversee fundraising and the Province Parties. The Party Chair is prohibited from holding public office, however the position is seen as a potential launching pad for higher office or a job for former national office holders. The Party Chair is put up for election at the Party conference which takes place the 1st of the month after every election. The Chair is also responsible for putting on the Party Convention which takes place on the first of the 5th month before the election. List of Chairs: Jean Rivière (3874-) ------------------------------------------------------------------- PARTY CONVENTION -------------------------------- The Party Convention is is held the 1st of the 5th month before the election. At the Party convention the head of state (if applicable) is chosen along with the candidate for head of government by delegates sent by the state parties. If a snap election is called, members of the party in the legislature shall bear this responsibility and shall be convened in a snap convention 1-2 weeks after the snap election is called. While the convention is typically a grand event lasting perhaps several days and open to an array of party members, a snap convention may be open to only some members and may be much shorter and less grand. Conventions may be held in stadiums or convention centers while snap conventions are typically held at the party hq in Aldur. A regular convention is typically held in a province or city of political strategy. List of Party Conventions: 3875, July 1st:- July 3rd -Charday, Arcogne -The convention was held in the Charday Convention center and was attended by roughly 15,000- including delegates. Speakers included Party Chair Jean Rivière, then Candidate for Party Nominee Louis Choffet. Louis Choffet, many candidates for the national assembly and the Archbishop of Alduria. Delegates chose Louis Choffet unanimously as the Nominee. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ELECTIONS ------------------------- Party Head of State Nominees: 3875: Louis Choffet 37.5% L Campaigns: 3875: The Conservatives spent the majority of the election building a ground game in the western regions, garnering no seats in middle Alduria. Despite putting forth little efforts in Val-Zanyal, a large movement of religious based activists campaigned strongly in this region, but it still want enough to win the governors seat or the majority of national assemblymen. The primary theme of the campaign was religious freedom and abortive rights which played well among the religious base. Though the party won a marginal number of seats, the party won enough to kill the New Liberals super majority; consequently ending the liberals practice of protecting their legislation via mass amounts of treaties. Though the conservatives made a strong showing, nominee Louis Choffet received a lower percent than the party did nationally for assemblymen. This was widely attributed to a massive smear campaign ran by a liberal advocacy group. Choffet ran for governor of Arcogne simultaneously, which he won with nearly 75% of the vote. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play". |
