| A minor party based on the ideology of the old Christian Democrats and Christian Nationalists, the New Christian Democrats were founded in 2653 by Algernon Phargle Rufus, named for the great liberator Dr. Algernon Phargle. The NCD proposes a restoration of Keymon\\\\\\\'s traditional institutions, an export and finance economy, and a restoration of the monarchy. The NCD favors an end to immigration, a program of national service, strict law and order reform, and an end to government intrusion into the privacy of citizens. Specifically, the NCD favors voting rights for cyborgs, opposes voting rights for computers, proposes cloning reform, and seeks to close the quantum string loophole. The party is opposed to the alliance of left and center-left parties that currently dominate Keymon\\\\\\\'s public life. - - - Algernon Rufus was shocked to find that his election to the so-called Assembly was a sham; indeed, despite personally getting 20% of the vote for Head of State, his party was utterly wiped out at the polls. Rufus accused the government of fixing the elections and called them out as tyrants, and has begun a movement of passive resistance to the dictators. - - - Algernon Rufus was executed by the government after a phony trial in November of 2656. Party vice-chair Samantha Foix assumed control and renamed the party \"Christian Democrats\", noting that Rufus\'s NCD was now taking up all the crusades of the old - and that it must succeed for the sake of all of Keymon. |
