Description[?]:

Partidul Social Democrat (Social Democratic Party) is a political party based in Cetatea Albă, Tilarnia. Formed as the Kizenian Partidul Lucrătorilor (Kizenian Workers Party), it was established in response to the increasingly dogmatic Neo-Liberal policies of the New Endralonian Peoples Party and in order to represent the workers of the Confederation, particularly ethnic Kizenian's working in secondary industries.

The Partidul Social Democrat believe in a robust private sector but that free market capitalism, without regulation, cannot meet the demands of a society. Therefore, some strategic sectors, primarily healthcare, education, energy and defence, should be at least partially nationalised. In this way, the PSD believes in establishing and safeguarding a balance between market forces and social ownership.

On social matters, the Partidul Social Democrat can be adequately described as 'radically libertarian', almost always favouring the rights of the individual over an oppressive government. For example, the PSD believes firmly in marijuana legalisation, the right to keep and bear arms and the elimination of the death penalty.

The structure of the Partidul Social Democrat is straightforward. The chief governing body of the party is the Central Committee. The Cental Committee can be made up of any number of individuals but usually contains a spokesperson for each corresponding government ministry plus candidates for the Speaker of the Assembly and the President of the Confederation. The Chair of the Central Committee is selected by the Committee themselves in a secret ballot but must always be a Committee member. The Chair must be appointed unanimously. Once elected, the Chair has the power to appoint and remove other members of the Committee as s/he desires. The task of selecting candidates and formulating policy proposals and positions is carried out by the Committee, though often this is delegated for less important matters (such as local or mayoral elections).

The PSD went on strike in 4118 in protest at the state of worker's rights in the Confederation. Unfortunately, the resultant collapse in electoral support caused the PSD to become nothing more than a pressure group, eventually winding up in 4138. With support from a number of trade unions, the PSD was reformed in 4294.

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map.
