Description[?]:
The Potensian Nation Congress is a Rajutti (OOC: Indian) based party, founded by its first chairman, Vijay Tripathi, in July 4140. * The party is somewhat under the influence of the religious guru Gagan Chakraborty, a native Malivian who fled to Pontesi after the authorities tried to arrest him on suspicion of fraud and tax evasion. Chakraborty, a Malivian Rajutti, grew up as a Gerajan (OOC: Hindu) and was identified as a religious prodigy whilst still a child, attracting attention for his alleged ability to perform all sorts of miracles. Ever since, his band of devotees has increased - and so too have the controversies, with many claims being made about him manipulating and often financially exploiting his followers. In 4125, Chakraborty pronounced he had converted to Hosianism (OOC: Christianity), although to all intents and purposes, his behaviour and his teachings changed rather little after his supposed conversion. Critics assert he did it for purely opportunist reasons, to make it easier for him to win Hosian followers. Many mainstream religious leaders within both the Hosian and Gerajan communities have denounced Chakraborty as a fraud, but despite this, large numbers of Hosians and Gerajans continue to regard him as their spiritual mentor, and hang on every word he utters. His alleged supernatural powers also continue to inspire awe in some and scepticism in others. The International Gagan Chakraborty Organisation, which is administered on his behalf, runs a number of Gagan Chakraborty Centres, dedicated to promoting Chakraborty's teachings. It is also involved with running a number of youth groups, several schools and various philanthropic projects. The organisation is mainly based in Malivia and Pontesi, but has spread elsewhere around Terra too. |
