Description[?]:
National Conscience (Daralian: Národné Svedomie) is a big-tent party formed in October of 5173 by a merger of various minor parties in order to temper the laissez-faire attitudes that had kept the JFZ dominant since 5124. NS is largely centrist in character, guided in the collective sense solely by a sense of opposition to minarchism and the establishment of a welfare state, but it has a 'significant minority' left wing advocating primarily for workplace democracy in addition to the former two values. In the wake of the Trigunia Affair of 5202-5206, in which both the JFZ government and the NS opposition were found complicit in covering up the anticlimactic results of the investigation into President Patrik Siroky's assassination and causing an international crisis by blaming Trigunia, the JFZ dissolved outright. While NS did not face as painful a fate, it was forced to expel members of its interventionist wing, most of whom came from the party's center and center-right wings and were the most vocal of many in the political sphere calling for action against Trigunia. As a result, while NS' social democratic wing has not totally overtaken other factions in the parties, it has claimed a new level of influence by filling the niche left by the purged. IDEOLOGY: - Centrism - Kodonomics - Anti-minarchism - Social democracy (some wings) - Social liberalism (some wings) - Paternalistic conservatism (fringe wings) - Democratic socialism (fringe wings) POLITICAL POSITION: Center-left to center-right |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
Random quote: "The European Union and environmental advocacy groups use global warming hysteria to advance their own special agendas. The European Union recognizes any significant reduction in CO2 emissions by the United States will significantly reduce its economic output, thereby bringing it closer to the inferior output of European nations. Environmental advocacy groups work to stifle economic and industrial progress wherever they find it to inhibit the successful advancement of peoples in developing nations, inevitably making mankind a second class citizen of planet Earth." - Dr. Jay Lehr |
