Description[?]:
The HSC originated early 2089, as a fusion of two smaller political factions - the Humanist Progressives and the Causalists, each with some marginal, inconsiderable success - discordant and incomplete policies obstructed a breakthrough. 2089, June 17th marked the birthdate of this new party, party leaders Demedriu Suerassic and Johan Belleghems signing following declaration of intent. "We take on a democratic and ethical life stance which affirms that human beings have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. We stand for the building of a more humane society through an ethics based on human and other natural values in a spirit of reason and free inquiry through human capabilities. We are not theistic, and do not accept supernatural views of reality." "We believe that scientific knowledge is the foundation of all wisdom and that, consequently, scientific argument should always be weighted more heavily than other forms of wisdom, particularly those which are not yet well described or justified from within the rational framework, or whose description fails to present itself in the course of a debate against a scientific argument." "We therefore take a scientific worldview that encompasses natural explanations for all phenomena, eschews supernatural and paranormal speculations, and embraces empiricism and reason as the twin pillars of a philosophy of life appropriate for an Age of Science." The HSC has since eagerly awaited their first election, scheduled in 2091, mainly based on the educational-scientific and health issues of both partnering groups, having little problems agreeing on ecological, justitial and military issues. The soundness of their economical policies, however, remains to be proven. Former PBP backbencher and ideologist Oliver Everett has agreed to lead the cartel for the 2089 elections - a campaign that will feature light blue as primary color and "Understanding!" as the trademark rallying cry. |
