Bill: IP Foreign Investment Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Imperialist Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2412
Description[?]:
This act seeks to reverse the laissez-faire attitude towards FDI. It is harmful to our national interest if foreign companies are able to control our non-renewable resources, or to gain access to our technology by taking over certain companies - in particular those with private military contracts, that are privvy to many national secrets. This act simply prevents foreigners from obtaining a majority share in any one company - they will still be able to invest. Profit-oriented investors, then, will still invest in Telamon, it is only those that seek to take over our companies that will be curtailed - surely the best of both worlds. |
