Bill: Results-Based Education
Details
Submitted by[?]: Citizens for Moral Unity
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2438
Description[?]:
Our nation's education system, at the moment, is woefully inadequate at preparing our children for the workforce. Its hands-off approach prevents discipline problems from being promptly handled and discouraged from a young age, and its standardized testing leads to children who are "taught to the test", without any of the flexibility the real world will require of them. We propose allowing teacher hands-on discipline, with the important addendum that students and parents can appeal to the administration on actions they consider excessive, and that teachers' use of disciplinary actions will be documented to determine if use is excessive. We believe this will prevent the development of the 'repeat offender' problem students we are currently facing, children who are unfazed by the threat of detention or suspension. In addition to this, standardized testing will be supplanted with on-the-job training and reviews. |
