Description[?]:

Gated communities are harmful to our society.

Gated communities are neighborhoods, surrounded by walls and gates, cut off from everything else, for as supposed security. However, most gated communities are really not well guarded, and statistics prove that this only provides a false sense of security, and sociologists have found that this is not good for the psychological well-being of the people, especially the children, living inside these communities.

So we have these gated communities in our society, providing a false sense of security to make people feel comfortable, and at what cost?

--These gated communities subconsciously teach people living within them to not be as wary about their environment, thus leading to somewhat higher crime rates actually, statistics have proved.

--These prisons cause further segregation and separation in our society, and lead to a social structure of pillarisation and isolation.

--The psychology of the people inside is lonely and secluded, and leads, for the most part, to anti-social behavior in people that would be extroverts otherwise.

--And, this is economically nonsensical. The land values inside rise only slightly, but the land values of the surrounding areas of these eyesoars drop dramatically, weakening our economy.

This "trend" has got to stop. People must not be putting up gated communities, and the government, of all institutes, certainly shouldn't be.

Random quote: "Capitalism demands the best of every man- his rationality- and rewards him accordingly. It leaves every man free to choose the work he likes, to specialize in it, to trade his product for the products of others, and to go as far on the road of achievement as his ability and ambition will carry him." - Ayn Rand
