Bill: Police Firearms, December 2484
Details
Submitted by[?]: Computational Intellect Project
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2485
Description[?]:
For the government to carry lethal weapons on a constant basis around the people creates a great divide amongst the government and its people, a boundary of mistrust, an environment of fear, and gives the government too much power. The government should never have the right to take the life of one of its own citizens except in self-defense of one of its employees. Most criminal situations do not require full firearms, but nonlethal alternatives will do. In the case that lethal weapons are needed, the specially trained firearms squads can be dispatched to handle the situation. Furthermore, we must distance ourselves as far away as possible from a society in which the individual is a subordinate to the state. |

Random quote: "Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." - Winston Churchill |
