| We hold a responsibility to our citizens to ensure that all of our people can have a roof over their heads, a place which they can call home. However, we have failed in this regard. The number of people living in housing deemed unsuitable for human habitation has escalated dramatically, to the point where an estimated 2.6 million now live in such housing. This bill aims to use the surplus from the Defence budget, a portfolio which has received approximately 65% more money than it needs, to provide replacement housing for our citizens. |
