Article 1: Wild Animals Understanding the dangers inherent in the ownership and containment of wild animals, and accepting the problems of possible escape of aforementioned animals and the damage they may cause as well as the risks to the public and their owners, the Government will henceforth ban the ownership of wild animals by private individuals on grounds of public safety. Zoological institutions may still own and care for wild animals provided high quality security measures are in place at all times and adequate space and provision is provided for the care of aforementioned animals. Article 2: Endangered Animal Ownership Accepting the risks to endangered animals in the wild, whilst also accepting the risks to the endangered animals natural behaviour should they be imprisoned, the ownership of endangered animals by private individuals will be banned in order to protect the species. Zoological institutions may still own and care for endangered animals provided high quality security measures are in place at all times and adequate space and provision is provided to maintain natural behaviour and care of the aforementioned animals. Article 3: Hunting Endangered Animals In order to protect the survival of endangered animal species the hunting of endangered animals will henceforth be banned. Any hunter found killing, or having killed, any animal designated as endangered will be fined no less than 50,000HCR and imprisoned for no less than 24 months. All hunting licences will be revoked and any hunting implements will be impounded and destroyed. A list of endangered animals, as designated by the Ministry of Environment and Tourism with environmental scientists and zoological institutions, will be available from the Ministry and on the Governments website. |
