Bill: Extradition Act - 2nd Reading
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 2112
Description[?]:
We resubmit this bill to Parliament so that it can be reconsidered. Whilst we believe firmly that we should allow extradition of suspects to the countries where they committed their crimes to stand trial, we believe that the government is also obliged to protect and ensure the well being of its citizens. Therefore we suggest amending the existing law to prevent extraditions to those states which might torture or impose cruel and unusual punishments against our citizens. |
