Bill: Legal representation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Selucian Home and Hearth
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2585
Description[?]:
Examples of situations where the proposed law would be useful: 1. A person is arrested for a crime she did not commit. She thinks the chances of being judged not guilty are exceedingly likely regardless of which lawyer represents her, so she does not want to spend money on an expensive private lawyer. She should be able to choose the option of being assigned a free public defendant. 2. An entrepreneur has varying income from year to year. One year he makes an average amount of money and so is not classified as "low income." However, he has debts to pay off from the previous year when he made no money, so he cannot really afford a lawyer. |
