Bill: The Trade Protectionist Tarrif Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Family and Tradition Party (disbanded)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2590

Description[?]:

The FTP believes that it is vital for Trigunia to reserve the right to impose tarrifs on any imports. Free trade is a phenomenon that is dangerous to our domestic industries, which may not be able to survive under conditions of unfair international competition. We believe our domestic industries should come first, before any broader economic interests. We do not believe we should commit to bilateral free trade of any description - if we feel it is appropriate to establish free trade agreements with particular countries, who agree not to impose tarrifs on our imports if this is reciprocated, we should do this, rather than opening ourselves to free trade gobally and unconditionally. Current legislation leaves our domestic industries wide open and vulnerable to foreign predators - we cannot allow this to continue, under any circumstances. Trigunia must always come first.
