Bill: Nationalisation of the Media
Details
Submitted by[?]: Communist Party of Endralon
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2041
Description[?]:
In the interest of absolute freedom of information (rather than freedom for the wealthy to push their own propaganda), we propose that all TV and radio channels be transferred to public ownership. This does not, under any circumstances, mean government control of the content of broadcasts. Different channels will be operated differently: Some will function as standard public media, such as the BBC. Others will be run by workers' co-operatives. Yet others might charge a fee from their viewers (and therefore be controlled by those viewers). But no channel shall broadcast any advertising. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
