Bill: Latin as Official Language

Details

Submitted by[?]: Jelbanian Conservative Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2666

Description[?]:

The Emperor hereby bans the Jelbek language in all comercial and government transactions and documentation. All schools shall only teach French and Latin in the Empire. Punishment for speaking in Jelbek may lead to a fine and/or imprisonment. Those who do not know French or Latin shall be sent to education centers until they are fluent.

Latin shall be the official language of the Jelterian Empire. The use of Latin is a compromise between the Jelbanian French and the Slavic Deltarian language. Historians have known for sometime that these two languages have always had a common source for their language; namely Latin.

Thus, the Empire shall use Latin as a common language for all citizens in the Empire.
