SR 143: REPPA ----------------------- Right to Equality & Protection from Peerage Act Proposed By: Federal Independent Party Introduction Explanation: This Resolution would effectively revoke any titles of peerage, any benefits or statuses gained from peerage, and would ultimately ban the usage of peerage by any Solentian government agency, public, or private organization and cease all recognition of peerage. Section I: Senate Findings Article 1) The Senate finds that under the current system, an unfair and undemocratic program designed to raise select citizens above one another is in place and is a regression of equality and democracy. Article 2) The Senate finds that under the current system, a program is in place designed to benefit the elite, wealthy, government insiders, and corporate individuals for reasons without strong rationale or merit. Article 3) The Senate finds that under the current system, the general citizenry is not in a position to benefit from the aforementioned legislation. Section II: Revisions Article 1) All titles of peerage previously garnered and appropriated to the citizenry, domestic or foreign, ceases to be valid and recognized. All peerage awarded to members of the citizenry is effectively stripped, regardless of standing in society. Article 2) All benefits and supplements to citizens acquired by peerage effectively are ceased. Article 3) All forms of peerage, regardless of origin and nature, are null and void. Any citizen, organization, or entity continuing usage of peerage is subject to prosecution by the Ministry of Justice. The minimum punishment shall be a fine of $50,000,000 SOL and 50 years in prison for individuals and $1,000,000,000 SOL and disbandment for any organization or entity. Section III: Authority to Regulate Peerage Article 1) Should any entity continue to function and recognize peerage, it shall immediately face repercussions. Repercussions include banning from public service or ever holding a public office, a fine as mentioned in Section II: Article 3, and may face extradition to another state. Section IV: Rules Article 1) This resolution requires 2/3 of the sitting Senate in order to attain passage and achieve status as law. Article 2) This resolution is a binding piece of law and shall require a full 2/3 of the sitting Senate in order to repeal its status as law. This resolution, upon becoming law, will remain in place until a piece of legislation specifically addressing its existence overturns it. |
