Bill: Minimum Wage Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2983

Description[?]:

Whilst accepting that differing jobs require differing pay rates in order to both encourage people to expand their abilities and improve their quality of life, whilst also accepting that people should not be forced to work for wages that are akin to slave rates, whilst also taking into account the requirement to guarantee the survival of private enterprise, the Government will modify Minimum Wage regulations on all companies.

The minimum wage is allocated on a per hour basis. All workers within the Imperium are entitled to such minimums in order to maintain quality of life. Any employer deciding to employ workers at above minimum wage will not be penalised nor effected by this legislation in so far as all employees paid at above these levels.
Self employed persons may continue to pay their own wages at whatever level they choose, however any person employed by them will be effected by this legislation.

Minimum wage:
-18 - 3.50 HCR per hour (as defined by the Young Persons Employment Act)
18 - 21 - 4 HCR per hour
21+ - 4.50 HCR per hour

Random fact: Voters have an extra appreciation for bills that actually get passed, so if you want to maximally take profit from your votes, make sure you compromise with others.

Random quote: "The moral justification of capitalism does not lie in the altruist claim that it represents the best way to achieve 'the common good.' It is true that capitalism does, if that catch-phrase has any meaning, but this is merely a secondary consequence. The moral justification for capitalism lies in the fact that it is the only system consonant with man's rational nature, that it protects man's survival qua man, and that its ruling principle is justice." - Ayn Rand
