Bill: Minimum Income Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Avanti Istalia!

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 3119

Description[?]:

While we agree that society must help the weakest's struggle with basic needs, and that the State must operate a small wealth redistribution in order to ensure a minimum level of dignity to everyone, we feel we need to strike a line between solidarity and naïvety. Those who don't have any permanent physical or psychological shortcomings shouldn't be taken care of forever.

Minimum income is to ensure every able-bodied man can seek employment without feeling anxious over the uncertainty of the future, and to support those who, due to a certain lack of requirements certainly not attributable to them, cannot sustain themselves with dignity.

To the latter, their immanent shortcomings must always ensure them some sort of minimum income; to the former, whose contingent difficulties cannot justify a life annuity, we think it is reasonable to propose that such a measure should not exceed a period of nine months.

Random fact: RP laws follow the same passing rules as in-game variable laws. Laws that are not of a constitutional nature require a simple majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. Laws that are of a constitutional nature require a 2/3 majority "Yes" vote from active parties currently holding seats. RP laws may be abolished a simple majority vote this applies to ANY RP law.
