Bill: Freedom in Education Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Libertarian Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3136

Description[?]:

Education is the means by which knowledge and culture is passed from one generation to the next. Education in its narrow sense refers to the formal schooling that occurs in established institutions of learning. Education in its larger sense is the socialization and acculturation of children into adult roles. Whereas there will always be disagreement on the issue of what mode of education is best, what socialization and what messages are best to teach, and how to teach the younger generations, there should not be one model of education but many and many choices with which parents may enter their children to learn. The freedom of education is tied, directly or indirectly, to every and any other freedom, including freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, freedom of speech, and the way that children are socialized into these freedoms. The Freedom in Education Act seeks to return the choice of education to parents, where it rightfully belongs.

Random fact: Terra, the fictional world in which Particracy is set, consists of 8 continents: Artania, Dovani, Keris, Makon, Majatra, Seleya, Temania and Vascania.

Random quote: "John Burroughs has stated that experimental study of animals in captivity is absolutely useless. Their character, their habits, their appetites undergo a complete transformation when torn from their soil in field and forest. With human nature caged in a narrow space, whipped daily into submission, how can we speak of its potentialities?" - Emma Goldman
