Currently, we see non luxury goods and food sitting at a rate of 4% taxed. I think we should raise the taxes to 5. Heres an explanation. Seeing how its On food, and non luxury goods - the prices on these objects are not high or expensive resulting in a low tax payment from the consumer. Example: somebody purchases milk for a dollar - they pay 4 cents right now. The amount is little for them and the increase would be hardly noticeable. However, our economy would improve. Look at it this way. Lets say each person per yr spends around 30,000 on these type of products. Off each person currently youd make 1,200 whereas with the 1% increase youd make 1,500. 28 million people x 1,200 avg. tax (4%) = $33,600,000,000 (33.6B) annually. 28 million people X 1,500 avg. tax (5%) =. $42,000,000,000 (42B) annually. So the increase would be VERY low on each product a consumer buys, but as seen above - altogether of our population, would improve it largely and give us more money to spend on infrastructure and building/improving our nation. |
