Bill: Industrial Relations Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Progress Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3477

Description[?]:

The law on the rights of workers with regards to trade unions is currently a very bizarre one. Trade union membership is compulsory in all professions and collective bargaining is legal, yet unions cannot organise strike action. The Government therefore plans to amend the law to achieve the following:
*The right to strike will be reinstated for every worker;
*Strike action may be called whenever a majority of a trade union's members vote in favour of it;
*No one may be forced to join a trade union any longer as a condition of employment.

    Random quote: "The great economic, social and political scientist, Karlstein Metz, accurately predicted over 2,500 years ago that capitalism is doomed to destruction by its inherent weaknesses and contradictions, and must inevitably be replaced by a communist form of social, political and economic organisation." - Friedrich Pfeiffer, former Dorvish politician
