Bill: Foreign Affairs Realignment Act of 2162
Details
Submitted by[?]: Union for a Responsible Republic
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2162
Description[?]:
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that the Republic withdraw from the Alliance of International Allies, National Sovereignty Treaty, and South Ocean Treaty Organisation - SOTO. The Alliance of International Allies is an ineffectual treaty/alliance. Currently only two nations have ratified the treaty with no other prospective members in sight. Furthermore, the terms of the treaty run contrary to established Cildanian notions of neutrality and self-determination. The National Sovereignty Treaty, while attractive, is in direct conflict with the other treaties ratified by this Senate. In the long term it is the opinion of this Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the NST had been de facto repealed by this legislature through its ratification of additional treaties. The "South Ocean Treaty Organisation - SOTO" treaty the Ministry is submitting for withdrawl is not the actual treaty that holds the SOTO together. That treaty is, in the opinion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, crucial to Cildanian national interests. We ask that we withdraw from this particular treaty because it was, for lack of a better term, a clerical error. |
