Description[?]:
Proposal for cultural protocols: Geography and Climate: Malivia is in a tropical region on the southern end of the continent Artania. Aside from the mountains and highlands of the country’s interior (Valkanarin), most of the country is low-lying coastal jungle. Eighty percent of Malivia’s population lives in these coastal regions. Malivia is bordered to the north by Darnussia and Hobrazia. History: Malivia was first formally organized through colonial efforts of Dundorf. Consequently, the country has a substantial minority of people who are of Dundorfian ancestry. Throughout the years, Malivia has gone through multiple cycles of dynastic families, replaced by anti-monarchist republics, only to see new dynastic families rise. After a complete takeover by Communist elements in 3576, rightist groups in Malivia, including the Dundorfian minority and various religious groups, banded together to drive the Communists from power and restore the monarchy. The Dundorfian Gottbergen family ruled Malivia from 3582, until it was transformed into a republic. Since 3754, the country has been known as the Malivian Republic. People: The Malivian people are based on those who reside in RL South Asia and historically spoke a similar language. However, when the Gottbergen dynasty was in power, they used the power of the state to push the introduction of the King’s native Dundorfian (German) language and Hosian (Christian) faith. Since the first republican governments of the mid-3700s, vast aspects of these policies have slowly been moderated, abandoned or completely reversed. With the power grab of Amir Özarin, a native Turjac speaker, in 3753, a pro-Turjac immigration policy largely replaced the fomer stances of the Malivian State. Economy: GDP: 701,657,126,216 MCR Census of 3750 Population: 99,475,917 Race: Malivians: 58.4% Mixed (Dundorfian/Malivian): 18.4% Dundorfians: 11.6% Alorians: 4.0% Hobrazians: 2.9% Luthorians: 2.5% Other: 2.2% Notes: The racial makeup of Maliva remains fairly stable; government policies have traditionally encouraged Dundorfian immigration, which has led to the rise of a relatively large Dundorfian minority. Since the 3740s and 50s, however, the administration has moderated its support for immigration, leading to a slight decline in first-generation immigrant numbers from Dundorf. Language: Malivian: 54.4% Dundorfian: 23.4% Luthorian: 17.0% Turjak: 3.5% Other: 1.7% Notes: Immigration and aggressive government promotion of the Dundorfian language has resulted in nearly 90% of all Malivians being fluent in Dundorfian. The native Malivian tongue has very slowly receded. Following the ascension of Amir Özarin to power, his administration adopted a pro-Turjac set of policies, navigating Malivia's immigration focus away from Dundorfians and towards Turjac speakers from Özarin's country of birth. Religion Geraja (Hinduism): 41.0% Evangelical Luthoran Church of Malivia (Evangelical Lutheran Christianity): 25.4% Aurorian Patriarchal Church (Roman Catholicism): 11.1% Other Hosian (Charismatic/Pentecostal Christian): 7.1% Ahmadism (Islam): 2.1% None: 8.8% Other: 4.5% Notes: The 3750 Census noted the continued, albeit slowed, decline of the Geraja faith. Hosians now represent the largest religious faction in Malivia, with over 43.6% of Malivians claiming that faith. Citing tax and employment discrimination policies, international monitors continue to criticize the country for its treatment of non-Hosians. |
