Bill: Police Equipment Improvement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Keymon New Frontier Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3782

Description[?]:

Mr Speaker,

instead of blurring the line between police and military powers as the government's misguided policies have done, we should focus on improving public security in a less invasive way through upgrading the equipment of the police. It is an unjustifiable risk that is being imposed on our officers that they are barred from using actual firearms, as the law hands them only non-lethal weapons, which arguably command less respect than potentially deadly guns. Sending police officers against ruthless criminals equipped only with inferior weapons is an irresponsible policy, and it is my party's belief that it should be changed as soon as possible to make law enforcement more effective and less dangerous for police officers themselves.
