Bill: Voting Rights Encouragement Resolution of 3863
Details
Submitted by[?]: Block Party Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3864
Description[?]:
This resolution will do two things: 1. Election day will be regarded as a national holiday around the nation. Why? We need to encourage voting by giving our nation's workforce a day off to concentrate on voting for their government officials. This should be regarded as important to all of us, and this part of the resolution supports that regard. 2a. Voting registration can occur on the same day as the vote. Why? This takes away obscure deadlines and potential reasons for people not to vote. 2b. Registering to vote will be simpler than ever. How? People will have the option to register via telephone line or in person. Why? This makes it easier for the people's voices to be heard in the elections. 2c. Expanding absentee ballots. How? By allowing people another week in advance to submit their absentee ballots by hand and allowing people to vote by telephone lines. Why? We could ensure that all people can vote without issue and won't have a reason not to vote besides political protest. We hope all parties; right and left alike; can agree that expanding voting rights expands the people's voice in our democracy and should be supported. -Jean-Ralphio Colbert |
