| Whereas the current Guarantee of Minimum income section in the Laws of the Yeudish Republic of Beiteynu state that "There shall be no direct cash payments to individuals to guarantee a minimum income." Whereas the current laws stipulate that no cash subsidies can be given to individuals, not even the disabled, homeless, or invalid. Whereas the current laws cause needless amounts of extreme poverty in the Republic. Whereas poverty is a leading cause of premature death, crime, and of economic difficulty. Whereas all humans have the basic right to not starve to death or die of lack of shelter, regardless of age, gender, race, religious beliefs, etc. Therefore, let it be resolved that the current law be revised to state "All adults not supported by another person shall be guaranteed a very basic subsistence income by the government." And let if be further resolved that the definition of "a very basic subsistence income" be considered 25% of the cutoff for the lowest tax bracket, which in this case would amount to 1,250 BEI per year. |
