Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker, Members of the Diet, my fellow Luthorians,

It has been an honor to serve as your Imperial Prime Minister for this past year. We have had our ups and our downs, and our little political squabbles within this chamber, and yet through it all, nothing has made me prouder than getting up every morning knowing that I had the ability to make a difference in the lives of so many. Over these past 11 months, I, and the rest of the cabinet, have done my best to move Luthori to a new age, both domestically and internationally. We weren't able to do everything we wanted to do, but we're absolutely proud of what we did accomplish. My government was able to withdraw from senseless treaties so that my successor could develop a foreign policy on a clean slate. I was able to appoint ambassadors to two international organizations and all the nations Luthori currently has relations with. We reduced the number of seats in the Diet and were able to eliminate prostitution under my watch.

Nonetheless, the people of Luthori have spoken, loud and clear. Clearly, now was not the time for conservative policies. The people had a choice before them this election, and it is evident that now is a time for us to all focus on bread and butter issues. Though my government lauded the economic growth Luthori was seeing, we failed to provide for those in the shadows to whom these statistics and figures were heard but not seen. It's time for us to get back to work again. For these reasons, I am announcing my resignation and will no longer serve as a member of the Diet for Orange. I am grateful to the people of my constituency who gave me this chance to serve in the Diet four years ago, and I wish the best of luck to my dear friend, the Rt Hon. Minister of Education and Culture, Margaret Patterson. Margaret and I go back many, many years to our days at Watkins Brown (and I'm sure just bringing that up made Mr. Turner bristle), but I know she will be able to lead the HDU to a better future. I'm proud of the work I've done for the country. I'm proud of the work I've done for my constituents. And I'm proud of the work I've done for the HDU. With that being said, I thank everyone both in the HDU, the government, and even in Her Majesty's most loyal opposition, for making this journey these past four years, and in particular this last one, a memorable one.

I yield.

The Rt Hon. Kenneth Buckley MD
Imperial Prime Minister
