Bill: Abolition of Death Penalty (Withdrawal)
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 4248
Description[?]:
Please don't rush to conclusions and think that we're reintroducing the death penalty here - we're not. The thinking behind this repeal is simple - there is only one other nation other than us signed up to this treaty. If parties want to work towards abolition this is not the way to do it. We are quite happy to have control over this law ourselves than be subjected to a treaty written 150 years ago followed by just a solitary nation. This house can be trusted, the people can be trusted. |
