Bill: Constitutional Amendment - Legislative Term Proposal 4361
Details
Submitted by[?]: Partido Nacional Progressista
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 4362
Description[?]:
Currently the National Assembly and the President service terms of four years. Four years is a perfectly reasonable length of time allowing opportunity for the inevitable coalition government formation and a good period of time for parties to propose legislation. However, the PNP feels that a 25% reduction in terms of office for both the executive and legislative would be good for democracy in Tukarali and beneficial to the more active parties. We understand that this may not have any support, but the PNP would like to scope that support. ooc: Elections every eight days or every six days? |
