Description[?]:
High upon the gallows tree swung the noble-hearted three. By the vengeful tyrant stricken in their bloom; But they met him face to face, with the courage of their race, And they went with souls undaunted to their doom. God save Kirlawa! said the heroes; God save Kirlawa said they all. Whether on the scaffold high Or the battlefield we die, Oh, what matter when for Kirlawa dear we fall! Girt around with cruel foes, still their courage proudly rose, For they thought of hearts that loved them far and near; Of the millions true and brave o'er the ocean's swelling wave, And the friends in holy Kirlawa ever dear. Climbed they up the rugged stair, rang their voices out in prayer, Then with tyranny's fatal cord around them cast, Close beside the gallows tree kissed like brothers lovingly, True to home and faith and freedom to the last. Never till the latest day shall the memory pass away, Of the gallant lives thus given for our land; But on the cause must go, amidst joy and weal and woe, Till we make our Isle a nation free and grand. Kilani - D'éirigh go h-ard ar an gcrann bólach an trí cinn uasal. De réir an t-úrfhulangach díograiseach a bhí buailte ina n-bhláth; Ach bhuail siad air le duine, le misneach a rás, Agus chuaigh siad le h-anam gan a bheith sásta dá n-ainneoin. Dia shábháil Kirlawa! a dúirt na laochra; Dia a shábháil Kirlawa dúirt siad go léir. Cibé ar an scafall ard Nó an catha bás, Ó, cad é an t-ábhar a bhíonn againn le haghaidh Kirlawa go daoibh! Gur timpeall le cúiseanna éadrócaireach, fós d'ardaigh a misneach go bródúil, Ós rud é gur shíl siad na gcroí a thug grá dóibh i bhfad agus in aice; As na milliúin fíor agus cróga ó tonn na farraige, Agus na cairde i Kirlawa naofa riamh daor. Climbed siad suas an staighre garbh, a guthanna a ghlanadh amach i nguí, Ansin, le téad marfach tyranny timpeall orthu a chaitheamh, Dún in aice leis an gcrann crainn, phóg sí mar dheartháireacha go grinn, Fíor don bhaile agus don chreideamh agus don saoirse don deireadh. Ní rachaidh an chuimhne ar ais go dtí an lá is déanaí, As an saol galánta a thugtar dá bhrí sin dár dtalamh; Ach ar an gcúis ní mór dul, i measc áthas agus caoineadh agus trua, Go dtí go ndéanfaimid ár nOileán náisiún saor in aisce. |
