Bill: Transit Act of December 2200

Details

Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2202

Description[?]:

In conjunction with a previous act fully funding public transit, this act seeks to encourage the use of public transit, relieve our streets and motorways of gridlock syndrome, while still permitting our citizens to own their own vehicles.

This would help to reduce pollution and with fewer cars and trucks on our streets, the public transit system will be able to move people faster and more efficiently while helping to preserve our fragile environment.

Further, by decreasing the number of cars, we can encourage the use of designated drivers and reduce the number of accidents that occur every year from drunk driving, as well as other accidents related to collisions involving vehicles.

This will help to prevent unnecessary deaths, both through the reduction of bad air and excessive numbers of vehicles on our roads.

This act does not cover company vehicles. Though, such vehicles are only available for use during company business hours.

Farms may apply for exempt status. If they file their tax returns as a business, they will not be subjected to the vehicle restrictions that regular households are subject too, as are daycare centres and the like.
