| Jakania is one of the biggest oil producers in the world. Our country's economy benefits greatly from this, it helps us protect ourselves, it helps us feed our people, it helps us move on forwards towards Anarchy as a society. However, it also has disadvantages. First of all, it harms this world, it destroys the nature, it pollutes our weather. This form of energy does not belong to the future, but it belongs to the past. As we are moving forwards as a society, we can't continue on being so dependent on an energy form of the past. Secondly, fossil fuels are limited. They are not a renewable energy source, even though we benefit from them today, there is no guarantee that we shall benefit from them forever. Therefore, we think it's absolutely necessary that Jakania starts investing in renewable energy sources, one of the most important of which, is nuclear energy. Understandably, there are disadvantages and potential harms to using nuclear energy. Under wrong conditions it's use could be catastrophic, not only intentionally through nuclear weaponry, but also unintentionally, through accidents. And it's also clear that nuclear reactors may cause some harms to the environment too. However, there is no going forward without taking risks. We should be careful with what we are doing, but at the same time, we shouldn't waste the opportunity we have right now. Nuclear energy will at least greatly reduce the harm done to the environment, and it will allow us to do some scientific research previously impossible, therefore perhaps allowing us to develop new kinds of energy that are completely clean and renewable. Developing nuclear weaponry is not even a risk worth mentioning. It's illegal, and every laboratory and scientific institute in Jakania is regulated to prevent anyone from even trying to develop any nuclear weapons. Jakanian Department of Nuclear Energy and Research should be no exception. In the end, we propose establishing the Jakanian Department of Nuclear Energy and Research for the purposes mentioned, e.g. developing nuclear energy, and furthering nuclear research. |
