| I, Icaro Barbaria, on behalf of this government and with the express authorization of head of government Teodoro Carraro, introduce this budget proposal to increase by 10 billion LIS the amount spent on our military. This is in response to the regrettable and sorrow-filled attacks upon our navy, and will be earmarked for each year to rebuild our navy and for other contingencies that we may face as we engage in a Security Council-backed mission against the Czarist regime of Deltaria. We acknowledge that, while we are averse to budget deficits in my party, this is a time of great national challenge and we must authorize greater spending. Furthermore, thanks to the last budget passed by Teodoro Carraro under Leo Tomassi, we have had a roughly 6 billion LIS surplus for many years now. This will invest the gains from our surplus years into our national defense. What could be a higher calling for a government than the protection of her people? Long live Istalia, long live the Emperor! |
