Bill: New Azure Ten

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Azure

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 4651

Description[?]:

New Azure Ten (NA10) proposes to pre-screen refugees in accordance with popular demand and while still respecting the right to asylum.

Under the new law, in order for refugees to be accepted they must be (all three and or four):
1. Fleeing from persecution for their political, personal, and or religious beliefs; and
2. Faced with imprisonment, torture, and or death if they go back to their homeland; and
3. Not reasonably accused of acts of terror or other acts considered illegal under Hutorian law; and or
4. Fleeing from life-threatening environmental issues

Refugees that do not fit the above will have their claims denied and subject to deportation.

Refugees accepted will be given basic accommodation if not otherwise sponsored and must attend a compulsory integration program. After 12 months, they must be re-approved for refugee status, or go through the naturalization process. Failure to accomplish these requirements will result in deportation.

A majority of Hutorians do not approve of the current laws on refugees:

We believe this proposal helps balance the alternatives.
