Bill: Treaty Rationalisation (TUF) Bill 4725
Details
Submitted by[?]: Beluzia Renewal Party (BRP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 4726
Description[?]:
The government proposes to withdraw from the Terran United Forces (TUF) treaty: (http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=4343) As with other treaties being examined by the government, superficially the aims of that treaty might appear laudable and it is not with any ill intent that the withdrawal is proposed. The rationale is based on the government's current determination to examine all our existing treaty commitments and to retain membership of those where we can recommend genuine benefit. In the case of the TUF treaty, well meaning as it undoubtedly was, there is little benefit in belonging to a "Terran wide" membership of "United" forces, when only two other nations in the whole of Terra belong to it. We rest our case. |
