LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY Legislation designed to protect Seko's ancient forests and natural environment, and establish the 瀬国自然保護奉仕 (Sekoku Shizen Hogo Hōshi; Seko Nature Conservation Service; SSHH) under the direction of the Ministry of Environment. MISSION (1) The SSHH shall ensure each generation of Seko will be able to enjoy the natural, untainted beauty of Seko's natural environment; (2) The SSHH shall encourage personal responsibility and active involvement of the people of Seko in the conservation of the nation's environment through holistic approaches using ecosystem-based solutions; (3) The SSHH shall protect at least 40% of the land-area of Seko. ACTIVITIES (4) The SSHH shall undertake the management, maintenance and protection Seko's National Parks, as established by individual acts of legislation passed by a majority vote in the National Assembly; (5) The SSHH shall undertake the management, maintenance and protection of Seko's protected natural reserves and areas, as established by individual acts of legislation passed by a majority vote in the National Assembly; GOVERNANCE AND FINANCE (6) The operating budget of the SSHH shall be determined by the Ministry of Environment. (7) The Director General of the SSHH shall be appointed by the Minister of Environment. (8) The Director General shall be the first-among-equals in the SSHH Council, appointed by an independent body composed of SSHH employees in addition to recognized national conservation experts. |
