Legislation to introduce a degree of competition into the oil and gas sector. Article 1:- The State Oil Company of Jakania will be broken up to create the Southern Petroleum Corporation (Güney Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı; GPAO) and the Ganşehir Oil and Gas (Ganşehir Yağ ve Gaz). Each of the new firms will remain state owned but shall focus on different oil and gas extraction regions and attempt to court different parts of the international market. Article 2:- The state monopoly on oil and gas shall no longer be enforced. Private corporations may request permission to begin operations, subject to certain criteria determined by the government. |
