LEGISLATION SUMMARY KU.002.4772 seeks to levy a penalty against firms with more than 100 employees worldwide for severing employees. LEGISLATION: CONSTITUTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS (1) Article 27 of the Constitution of Seko states, "All human beings have the right to dignified work, with industrial and occupational health and safety, without discrimination, and with a fair, equitable and satisfactory remuneration or salary that assures a dignified existence for the worker and his or her family." (2) Recognizing the ultimate authority of the Constitution, and the National Assembly's mandate to implement the rights and obligations expounded in it, the Government of Seko shall endeavour to ensure that no human being in Seko is deprived of the right to work. GENERAL PROVISIONS (3) This legislation shall apply to all firms and co-operatives operating in Seko which employ more than 100 employees/workers worldwide. JOB DESTRUCTION PENALTY (4) Any firm as stipulated in Article 3 shall be penalized for the act of job destruction, namely firing or laying off employees, and required to: ⠀ ⠀ (a) provide each laid-off worker three months severance for each year of service; ⠀ ⠀ (b) provide a payment of 圓2,675,000.00 to each community each laid-off worker resides in, to cover the social costs of economic dislocations.
