Based on and updated from previous version: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=567004 Bill passed here: N/A Cultural Protocol Index: http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=6365 Cultural Origins: One of the Jelbic nations. Population is mixed between three different Jelbic tribes and religiously split between Hosianism and Ahmadism. The cultures of the three tribes has been influenced by the Deltarians, Augustans, Dorvish, and other Jelbic cultures. RL Cultural Influences: Jelbic is a fictional culture based heavily on the many steppe cultures. Relevant cultural influences can be seen in Mongolia, the Middle East in general, Prussia, Asia and a minor influence from the Netherlands. CULTURE The Jelbic culture is one unique to Particracy. The Wrnukaékai are divided into three subcultures, the Banmék can be defined as the Northern Jelbics of Vanuku and draw slight influences from the colonial influence of the Dorvish as well as their cultural ties to the Brmék, they are predominantly Hosian, Tanhrist and irreligious. The Krlmék are more heavily influenced by the Augustans and Majatrans and can be defined as the Western Jelbics of Vanuku, they are mostly Ahmadist and Tanhrist. The Trmék are the Southern Jelbics of Vanuku and are closely related to the Jelbék and have been influenced by Deltarian cultures in the past. https://particracy.fandom.com/wiki/Vanukean_people https://particracy.fandom.com/wiki/Jelbic_peoples BRIEF PRE-GAME HISTORY The coast lines of Vanuku were first settled by Qedarite and Selucian 'colonists' from Cildania and Selucia. During the Jelbo-Tukaric Migrations these were ousted by the migrating Jelbics. Jelbic tribes lived in all of modern day Vanuku. In the early 800's the legendary Vanukean Merlkai the Conqueror united the north of modern day Vanuku, establishing the first Vanukean state with the Khanate of the Banster. After his conquests most of his subjects turned away from the shamanist faiths of Zollism and Tanhrism and towards Hosianism, except the tribes in the west and south. This Khanate existed until 1246 when the Ahmadi Caliphate annexed it. Most of the remaining shamanists converted to Ahmadism. The Caliphate remained in charge of Vanuku until 1486 when a descendant of Merlkai ousted the Ahmadists. Most of Vanuku then united into the Archduchy of Banstill but several smaller states still existed. In 1629 colonists from Dorvik started founding cities and trade posts on the long coastline of Vanuku, this colony was popularly known as Dorvish Majatra. In this period Vanukeaans (Dutch) was also born as a child of the Brmék/Wrnukék tongue and Dundorfian spoken by the colonists. In 1700 the Dorvish left, selling their colonies to the Archduchy of Banstill. In 1814 a Golden Age started, in many ways like the Renascentia in Selucia, trade and commerce filled the coffers and the most beautiful paintings were made in Vanuku. In 1939 this era of prowess ended as the unrest between the nobility in the north and the republicans in the south escalated. From 1952 to 1961 a war was fought between the north and the south, ending inconclusive. From 1961 to 2090 Vanuku was a split nation until the War of Unification from 2090 to 2139. In this long war the monarchists in the north were defeated by the republicans, marking the foundation of the Vanuku Federation. For many years after Vanuku was a republic, though tensions always remained between republicans and monarchists. In 3696 the Crowned Republic was founded, which soon after became the Principality and later the Kingdom of Vanuku. Ever since then, with short moments of a republic, Vanuku has been a monarchy. In 3777, and later in 4777 again, Vanuku was the leading nation behind the Khaganate of the Jelbic Peoples. http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/History_of_Vanuku ETHNICITY Vanukean/Wrnukaékai = Jelbic -- Banmek = Jelbic with very minor Dutch influences -- Trmék = Jelbic with minor Slavic and Dutch influences -- Krlmék = Jelbic with minor Arabic and Esperanto influences Brmek = Brmék-speaking Jelbics with Semitic and Persian influences Jelbek = Jelbék-speaking Jelbics from Jelbania with Mongolian influences Dorvish = Germans and Prussians Augustan = Esperanto speaking Byzantine Greeks Deltarian = Slavs Majatran = Arabs Selucian = Ancient Romans Yingdalan = Chinese Kathuran = Assyrians/Syriacs/Arameans/Chaldeans ~Percentages of the Population~ Jelbic: 84% - Wrnukaékai: 76% -- Krlmék: 34% -- Banmék: 26% -- Trmék: 16% - Jelbék: 7% - Brmék: 1% Augustan: 4% Majatran: 4% Deltarian: 2% Dorvish: 2% Selucian: 1% Yingdalan: 1% Other (Luthorian, Kathuran, Canrillaise, Istalian, Dundorfian, Saridani, etc.): 2% LANGUAGE Wrnukaék = Jelbic originating from Banmek with Vanukeaans influences Vanukeaans = Dutch and Flemish Brmék = Jelbic with Semitic and Persian influences Jelbék = Jelbic with Mongolian influences Augustan = Esperanto Majatran = Arabic Dorvish = German with Prussian influences Selucian = Latin ~Percentages of the Population (as a native language)~ Wrnukaék: 73% Vanukeaans: 7% Jelbék: 7% Augustan: 4% Majatran: 4% Dorvish: 2% Brmék: 1% Other: 2% RELIGION Hosianism = Christianity -- Terran Patriarchal Church = Deltarian (Russian Byzantine) rite -- Aurorian Patriarchal Church = Roman Catholic rite ---- Patriarchate of Augusta = Specific diocese for Vanuku, Zardugal and Cobura -- Apostolic Church of the East = Eastern rites Ahmadism = Islam -- Israism = Sunni -- Abadism = Shia Jelbic Shamanism = Mongolian and Turkic paganism -- Zollism = Tengrism and Roman Polytheism -- Tanhrism = Tengrism Felinism = cat pantheon paganism Yeudism = Judaism ~Percentages of the Population~ Hosianism: 34% -- Terran Patriarchal Church: 24%* -- Aurorian Patriarchal Church: 7% -- Apostolic Church of the East: 3% Ahmadism: 22% -- Israism: 18% -- Abadism: 4% Irreligious: 20% Jelbic Shamanism: 19% -- Tanhrism: 10% -- Zollism: 9% Felinism: 2% Yeudism: 1% Other: 2% *Percentage of the total population.
