| Mr Speaker, we will change the current law on abortion right on the basis of scientific evidences: after the sixth month of pregnancy a fetus is a totally developed baby which need actually only to increase weight and size. On average at the end of the 26th week a fetus inside a belly measures 35 centimetres circa and weighs about 700 grams. If he were born at this point he would be placed in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) in the incubator until he has achieved a good weight and proper development. A fetus may begin to hear and feel during the late second trimester. At this stage the fetal brain structurally closely resembles the adult brain with the brainstem almost fully developed and it need just time to grow. A definitive evaluation of anatomical normality can be had by the 20th week of gestation, when the formation of the most important organs is completed. While chromosomal tests can be performed as early as the 9th week. Parents, unmarried girls or baby mothers have all the time before the end of the second trimester to estimate if they can have or they want have a baby and to verify the fetus is affected or not by any sort of disease or problem.
